Gluten Free and Dairy Free Salted Caramel Pretzel Chocolate Cake

Move over pumpkin and pecan pie – this gluten free and dairy free SALTED CARAMEL PRETZEL CHOCOLATE CAKE is going to be your new favorite dessert for the holidays and, truly, any day 😉❤️🍫🥨🍰The combo of the rich gluten free chocolate cake (with extra chocolate chips added in of course 😌), creamy dairy free vanilla frosting, and the added crunch of the salty gluten free pretzels with my homemade dairy free caramel sauce recipe will make you fall in loveee 😍

Gluten Free & Dairy Free Salted Caramel Pretzel Chocolate Cake 

For the cake:

@simplemills gluten free and dairy free chocolate cake mix

3 eggs

1/3 cup oil

2/3 cup water

1 tbsp vanilla 

Handful of @enjoylife gluten free and dairy free chocolate chips

Dairy free vanilla frosting

Gluten free pretzels 

For the caramel: full homemade dairy free caramel recipe is also on my blog 

Flaky sea salt 

  1. Preheat oven to 350 or 325F depending on your pan according to instructions on back of cake mix box.
  2. Whisk eggs, water, oil, and vanilla in a bowl and add in the chocolate cake mix, chocolate chips, and mix until well combined.
  3. Pour the cake batter into a nonstick or parchment lined baking pan or cake pan.
  4. Bake 30-37 minutes depending on oven&pan, our until center of cake bounces back when pressed and toothpick comes out with a few crumbs. 
  5. Let cake cool completely and while the cake cools, make the homemade caramel in a saucepan (full recipe and instructions for caramel can be found on my blog)
  6. When cake is cool, remove from pan and frost with dairy free frosting. Top with a layer of pretzels and pour the caramel on top and springy flaky sea salt. *note: caramel will harden over time so wait to pour caramel until serving*
